The Monochromatic Style
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication” – I believe this statement is true with styling. To get into the technicality of Fashion vs Style, Fashion keeps changing, also loves repeating itself over time, for example – the 1980’s trended on silhouettes, bold colors, ripped tights, oversized blazers, shoulder pads while 1990’s was high-waisted denim, turtle neck, leather jackets. On the flip side, Style is enduring.
I feel most confident if I styled good enough for the dress. Even if you took an oversized t-shirt as your outfit, pull it up and tie it around the waist with a knot. If you picture it, this brings a crop top look, but without hugging your body. Roll up your sleeve, pair the shirt with a good baggy pant or skinny jeans. If you decided to go with skinny jeans, a pointed pencil heel goes long way and for baggy pants, sneakers. Kim K, is the perfect living example for this scenario.
About This Look
I used to be all about colors a couple of years ago. May be age takes an effect on your dressing style and the colors you choose. Like I mentioned in the about me page, My taste has inclined towards neutral shades in recent times, as it goes with anything and an essential part of building one’s wardrobe. Here, I chose a light Gray shade for most of the pieces. The art of mixing and matching neutral colors is also part of creating a perfect outfit. Gray and Black fall under the same category of colors. Be aware that these shades could hold in its austere simplicity if not adorned well with jewelry and accessories.
I wore a long fabric earring, with a hint of gold covering at the loop and pencil heel with a pointed tip to compliment the whole look. They say there’s real power in heels, added to it, heels can never go wrong. I started to get my nails done as a bi-weekly regime, makes my hand look clean and classy, sure enough to say that it even complimented the look. The cat eyed glasses is more prominent on a tanned skin, plus gives that geeky look and lets you think spectacular :D.
Long coats are trending, serving multi-purpose needs apart from fashion (a great piece to invest in). Coats embrace you, keeping you warm and toasty. We sometimes like hiding behind our jackets when winter starts (which am known for) tempting you to throw style out the window. I took the hardest route to learn that coats or jackets can be both “Fashion and Function”. This is a chesterfield coat but without the blazer like lapels, long and slim, oozes relaxed elegance. Its comfortable, offers people a quick peek at the beautiful outfit underneath
Last but not the least, always wear a smile. A simple smile elevates your look, also makes you feel better. A inexpensive makeup a person could wear.
